If you ever feel like you’re not getting enough use out of the dresses in your closet, I’m right there with you. Every time I excitedly purchase a cute body-con dress (that I DEFINITELY don’t need), sure enough, I don’t end up pulling it off the hanger as much as I thought I would. Recently, I’ve been trying to style these dresses a few different ways to spice up my usual four outfits I wear over and over again—hopefully, you can get some styling inspiration and get the most out of your dresses.
I’m actually pretty proud of this look—I’m not sure how I managed to stuff an entire dress into my pants without making weird hip or butt lumps, but it was surprisingly doable! A tip for styling your dresses as a shirt, like I did in this outfit, is to go with a pant made of a thicker material and maybe even a looser fit. I love styling a dress this way because it’s a great way to adapt these types of dresses for the colder months and more casual wear. Here I paired a red-striped body-con dress with torn black mom jeans, an industrial belt, and Fila Disruptors.
In this next look, I layered a sparkly mesh t-shirt under the body-con dress and threw on a pair of NMDs to embrace the slightly sporty vibe of the striped outfit. I love adding super casual sneakers with dresses to dress down the look and make it a little easier to wear for everyday use. The shirt under cami-dress is also a huge trend right now that I plan on diving into; a turtleneck or plain white tee under a dress like this could be super warm and cute in this cold af weather.
For this final outfit, I threw on a tattered white sweater over the dress to style it much more like a skirt. The beautifully chunky Disruptors are back again to further complement the casual/sporty elements of the look. I think an oversized furry or leather jacket would also look great layered over this sweater and skirt combo, as well as adding a little bit more coziness. Yes, we’re trying to look cute, but that doesn’t mean we have to be cold!
